What a year it has been for music fans in Long Island, New York! The prime entertainment destination, the Bald Hill Amphitheater, has hosted a great lineup of performers for the year 2023 – ranging from different genres and catering to both the young and the young at heart! The music scene was definitely thriving, with the plethora of big names making Bald Hill their coveted stop in Long Island! The venue, which can seat up to 3,000 attendees and an additional 4,000 in its vast lawn area is definitely the most popular destination for outdoor concert events. Strategically located in Bald Hill, the venue allows music lovers to bask in the Long Island summer weather, as well as enjoy great music!

In this review, we’ll show you a lowdown on the exciting happenings that took over Bald Hill Amphitheater in 2023! It was definitely a year to remember! The Bald Hill Amphitheater presented a diverse set of performers for 2023 – ranging from country to rock, pop, Latin, and many more. A slew of festivals also came in featuring an extensive line-up of sensational headliners and up-and-coming artists! The spring and summer seasons were definitely made more exciting thanks to the remarkable performances of top-tier artists. On Tuesday, 2nd May, the quintessential rising star in country music, Jackson Dean, made a highly coveted appearance at the Bald Hill Amphitheater. The singer-songwriter, who recently came out with smashing hits “Don’t Come Lookin’,” “Fearless,” and “Wings,” became a viral Internet sensation. Thousands of fans gathered to see the future country superstar deliver his iconic hits at the amphitheater. 

A week later, the Mayday Music Festival came in to conquer the venue. The spectacle featured a great line-up of rock bands comprising blues rock powerhouse Blues Traveler, The Wallflowers, Wheatus, and John Hampson of Nine Days. It was the very first high-profile music festival of the season, and it definitely gathered fans from the local community and beyond into the venue. The event was also packed with high-powered hits as Blues Traveler delivered career-spanning staples and new songs. Meanwhile, The Wallflowers brought fans on an exhilarating retrospective trip as they performed timeless hits like “The Difference,” “Sleepwalker,” and “Three Marlenas.” Lastly, Wheatus brought their signature alternative pop-rock tunes like “Teenage Dirtbag,” “A Little Respect,” and much more!

Speaking of retrospective experiences, the Bald Hill Amphitheatre proudly welcomed the legendary band, Chicago, on Saturday 24th June. It was probably one of the biggest nights of the year as the platinum-selling band performed all their beloved hits. That night, Chicago performed over 20 songs for fans, and it was definitely the experience of a lifetime. Having one of the greatest and best-selling bands in Bald Hill Amphitheater was absolutely the most memorable event of the season.

Latin music fans were also given an exciting treat for the summer! The Fiesta Latina featured a fantastic line-up of outstanding performers, such as Orquesta Guayacan, Binomio de Oro La Sonora Dinamita, DJ Pereira, and DJ Camilo. The occasion, which occurred on Saturday, 15th July, attracted thousands of spectators and music fans – all enjoying the myriad of Latin music tunes, ranging from modern pop, hip-hop, and contemporary to regional music, such as cumbia, salsa, and more. 

That same month, the amazing tandem of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo filled the air with high-powered staples. Recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the duo performed Benatar’s “Hell is for Children,” “Love is a Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker,” “Ring of Fire,” and more! The setlist was also packed with several sensation covers of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter,” “Lowen & Navarro’s “We Belong,” and The Rascals’ “You Better Run.”

July was surely the perfect time to host music festivals. On Saturday, 29th July, the Freestyle Feast came knocking and rocked the house with incredible performers, such as Rob Base, Rockell, Cynthia, TKA, and Judy Torrest. The event had all the fans singing and dancing along to top-tier freestyle music. 

In August, big-name artists started flocking into the Bald Hill to perform their career-spanning hits! Sensational country singer Darius Rucker, who’s also known for being the frontman of Hootie & The Blowfish, performed his chart-performing hits on Saturday, 5th August. Since 2008, Rucker has established himself as a sensational solo artist who infuses a myriad of genres, such as rock, pop, country, and blues. His brand of blues and country staples has amassed a large and dedicated fanbase – many of whom flocked to Bald Hill for a glimpse of the award-winning performer. 

Several days after Darius Rucker rocked the house, another legendary performer came in to blow everyone away. Beres Hammond arrived in town for his Forever Giving Thanks Tour. The Jamaican powerhouse performed a slew of his retro hits, such as “The System,” “Groovy Little Thing,” “Settling Down,” and more. The reggae legend also brought in an excellent list of special guests, including Louie Culture, Romain Virgo, and Christopher Martin. 

By August, another artist who made waves during the ‘80s and ‘90s arrived at Bald Hill to transport fans back in time. Lou Gramm, formerly from Foreigner, performed a plethora of incredible hits, such as “Feels Like the First Time,” “Jukebox Hero,” and “Hot Blooded.” He may well be into his ‘70s, but the sensational singer still performs like it’s 1985. For that night, Gramm was accompanied by Steve Augeri, Asia, and John Payne. It was the perfect performance to cap off the month of August. 

For the community of Long Island, Bald Hill Amphitheater provides much-needed entertainment. The venue is the archetype of a modern outdoor amphitheater with reserved seats and a vast open space. Michael Grant gave the venue a raving review for his trip to see Lou Gramm in August. He added that the concert area was nice, as well as the concessions stands and lawn areas. All in all, he gave his visit a 4 out of 5 star rating. 

Meanwhile, Mike E gave the venue a perfect five stars. He commented that going in and out of the venue was a breeze. “It goes really fast, and if you don’t mind bringing your own chairs and being the way in the back, then buying your tickets at the box office when you get there is the very cheapest. It’s a really nice stadium, and It was a really fun night out. Lastly, Traci Everett had an ecstatic time seeing Chicago at the Bald Hill Amphitheatre. “It’s a small venue but we really enjoyed the Chicago concert. It’s not fancy, but there were food vendors with plenty of choices.”

Bald Hill Amphitheatre has become a great part of the community and provides music lovers with their fix for exhilarating outdoor concerts. The venue opened during the ‘80s and has streamlined its entry and exit process and provides great choices for food and drink concessionaires. More importantly, the venue has just the suitable capacity to host an exciting music festival or a high-powered headlining concert featuring top-tier bands and artists.
